White House Names 2026 World Cup Task Force, US Travel Association Responds

Hosting a World Cup is no small feat, and the White House is acting on the impending 2026 World Cup, with President Trump signing an Executive Order to establish a White House task force for the event, last hosted here in 1994.

The 2026 event will be held across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. U.S. cities where games will be played include Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City (New Jersey), Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle.

This next World Cup will be held from July 11 and July 19, 2026.

U.S. Travel Association released a statement applauding the President on the establishment of the task force.

It noted that this “critical action” will ensure a seamless and secure experience for the potential 8 million visitors for both the 2025 Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup. The task force, chaired by the president, will coordinate with federal agencies to prepare for these major events, positioning the U.S. to welcome the world.

“The creation of this task force was a top priority for U.S. Travel and will ensure the U.S. is fully prepared to host the world’s largest sporting event,” said U.S. Travel President and CEO Geoff Freeman. “We are grateful for the administration’s leadership in bringing together the necessary resources to support the massive influx of travelers, and we are confident this will lay the foundation for a truly transformative mega-decade of events. We look forward to the positive impact this will have on both the travel industry and the nation as a whole.”

Previously, the US Travel Association had issued a report detailing the need for major reforms prior to the mega events set to be hosted in the United States, such as this World Cup, as well as the 2028 Olympics.
